Comporta is a Portuguese parish in the municipality of Alcácer do Sal, with an area of ​​150.54 km² and 1,268 inhabitants (2011). Its population density is 8.4 inhabitants / km².
The parish is limited to the north by the estuary of the River Sado and to the west by the peninsula of Troia, from which it is separated by the stream of Comporta.

Comporta is surrounded by rice paddies, the ocean, sand dunes, and pine forests. It’s a unique place, where you can connect with nature and live in the moment. To some people, the fishing cabins on stilts conjure up images of Asia, whilst for others, the magnificent white-sand beaches bordering the ocean evoke the Hamptons, but Comporta has a rhythm and an ambiance that are all its own.

And although spending holidays here is becoming more and more ‘trendy’, make no mistake – Comporta isn’t the new Ibiza. This is the epitome of slowness and simplicity; a little corner of paradise, suspended between the ocean and the rice paddies.
Tradition and simplicity reign supreme in the villages of the region. The buildings fit together harmoniously and the villagers can still be found in the same cafés they have always frequented. There are no legions of tourists, and no nightclubs. What you can find is the authenticity and easy living of Portugal.

Beach
Comporta is famous for its high-quality beaches and the mild climate during the summer. Comporta beach has white sand and a blue sea, giving it a paradisiacal aspect. The wide beach, the car park, and good access - through a dirt road that leaves from the EN 261, before reaching Herdade da Comporta - in a north-south direction - makes this beach one of the most popular and popular in the region. For a long time, it was the place chosen by people from the Alentejo countryside to go to baths. Today, due to the Lisbon-Madrid highway, it is the Spaniards who have made Comporta one of their favorite places. Comporta is part of the Sado Estuary Nature Reserve, giving it the necessary conditions for the development of the more than 200 species of birds that exist here.
