Santa Susana was a Portuguese parish in the municipality of Alcácer do Sal, with 166.22 km² in area and 353 inhabitants, (2011). Its population density is 2.1 inhabitants / km².
It was added to the parishes of Santa Maria do Castelo and Santiago, to form a new parish called the Union of Parishes of Alcácer do Sal (Santa Maria do Castelo and Santiago) and Santa Susana with headquarters in Santiago.
This old parish includes the towns of Santa Susana, Barrancão, Foros Corte Pereiro, Pego do Altar and Vale de Figueiras. The village of Santa Susana has ten streets.
With typical Alentejo architecture, the village of Santa Susana stands out for the presence of small houses on the ground floor, all whitewashed with blue bars and large chimneys.
In its surroundings there is also the Pego do Altar dam, a hydro-agricultural work, built in the Estado Novo which, in addition to watering the rice fields in the municipality of Alcácer do Sal, constitutes a space for leisure and rest.
A visit to the picnic park (Parque das merendas) and the Pego do Altar dam and reservoir area is recommended, areas of great beauty and unique conditions for water sports.

The main economic activities are agriculture, beekeeping, hotels, and services. The services area has the potential to develop this location through the creation of virtual offices, teleworking, and coworking. Potential of special emphasis for the creation of startups that provide remote services. In local crafts, miniatures of cork and wood predominate, as well as lace and embroidery.
