MOITA
38° 39′ 00″ N, 8° 59′ 00″ W

Moita is a Portuguese village belonging to the district of Setúbal and the Metropolitan Area of Lisbon, with about 17,600 inhabitants.
It is the seat of the municipality of Moita with 55.26 km² of area and 66 029 inhabitants (2011), subdivided into 4 parishes (Alhos Vedros; Baixa da Banheira e Vale da Amoreira; Gaio-Rosário e Sarilhos Pequenos; Moita).
The municipality is limited to the north, through the shallows of the Tagus estuary, by the main area of the municipality of Montijo, to the northeast also by Montijo, to the southeast and south by Palmela and to the west by Barreiro.
The municipality of Moita, part of the Lisbon Metropolitan Area, is located on the left bank of the Tagus Estuary, with a riverfront of more than 20 km. With the exception of Vale da Amoreira, all the other parishes (Alhos Vedros, Baixa da Bath, Gaio-Rosário, Moita and Sarilhos Pequenos) are in contact with the river.

The new centrality and accessibility brought about by the construction of the Vasco da Gama Bridge constitute an asset in the position of this municipality in the Setúbal region, namely for the enhancement of its natural resources and riverside area, constituting an attraction for the installation of new equipment, companies and residents. Thus, new opportunities for local and regional development are emerging, resulting from the City Council's efforts in urban and environmental requalification.
